Why “Christ the Victor”?

In my 30+ years in the Church, I have noticed that much emphasis is given to Christ’s birth and resurrection. This makes sense because Christmas and Easter are popular holidays, even in the culture at large. But, as a Christian, I know there is so much more to the beautiful truths of Christ’s incarnation and resurrection. Yes, we know that Christ has risen from the dead. Amen! But Christ also reigns as victor over sin, Hell, and the grave. This is a truth we can celebrate, too! Thus, I created the “Christ the Victor” Family Worship guide. There is no teaching from me in this guide. My desire was simply to pull together, Scripture, song, and art we can use to worship and meditate on the truth that Christ is, indeed, the Victor!

What’s Included in “Christ the Victor”?

This guide follows the same basic template as my first guide. It begins with a Psalm. Instead of The Doxology, however, this guide has a verse of praise from Revelation. Next, you will find four readings from the Bible. These readings come from both the Old and New Testaments. You can choose one reading for each week, or read them all every week. It’s up to you! For our family, we choose one reading for each week and repeat it each day we use the guide. After that, you will find the prayer section. Finally, you will see four options on the “Songs & Hymns” page. Like the Scripture readings, we choose one song or hymn for each week. Then, you will find two paintings for picture study. These paintings are focused on Christ’s Ascension. Next, you will find the lyrics to the songs and hymns. I try to link to videos that include the lyrics on the screen, but you can print the lyrics as well. Finally, the guide ends with some helpful tips for parents.

Optional Resources for “Christ the Victor”

  1. Study Guide for Psalm 24 from Blue Letter Bible: We are using this FREE guide to study Psalm 24 this month. We like that the guides are simple and broken down verse-by-verse.
  2. We put our Family Worship Guides each month into a binder. We also put each page into a sheet protector. This just helps the guides hold up throughout the month. Plus, you can reuse the binder and sheet protectors each month. Here are the binders and sheet protectors we like and currently use.
  3. Link to audio for Psalm 24 from Blue Letter Bible

I do not endorse all teachings or actions from websites, authors, or groups that I share. I do my best to evaluate all resources I link to and ensure they are sound at the time of sharing.
